Qualifications/Experience requirements
- Education/Experience: Must have a minimum of one year home care knowledge. HHA or CNA licensed preferred.
- Language Skills: read, write, and speak English fluently. Communicate professionally with office staff, family members and other health care professionals.
- Other Qualifications: ability to solve practical problems, self starter, ability to prioritize, strong home care approach and willing to deal a variety of home dynamics.
- Driving requirements: must have reliable transportation. Must be able to occasionally take clients to doctors appointments, grocery shopping and incidental transportation. Must have a clean and valid driver's license and appropriate vehicle insurance as appropriate by law.
What Caregivers Do at Caring Companions
Our caregivers help seniors in El Paso stay safe, comfortable and independent in their own homes. Depending on each client’s care plan, the work can include:
- Companionship and conversation that help ease loneliness
- Personal care such as bathing, grooming and dressing
- Meal preparation and feeding assistance
- Light housekeeping and organizing the home
- Medication reminders, errands and prescription pick-up
- Incidental transportation to doctor appointments and grocery shopping
- Support for clients living with dementia, Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s

Training and Support
All of our caregivers are Caring Companions employees, not independent contractors. We provide training in dementia care, Parkinson’s symptoms and best practices, mental illness in seniors, activities of daily living support (bathing, transfers and toileting), nutrition and cooking, and customer service. Our team includes Certified Nursing Assistants, trained dementia companions and personal care attendants.
Our Hiring Process
Every caregiver goes through a careful screening that includes driving records, the sex offender registry, criminal history, Social Security validation, drug testing and health screening.
